Shaver Engineering Library held an Open House on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Barry Holquist, our IEEE representative, was on hand with a display of literature. He answered questions about his products and resources and had giveaways. Four gaming stations, supplied by GameStop (thanks to David Applegate) were popular attractions throughout the day. Our own UK Libraries gaming experts – Jeff “Podge” Rion, Brandon Daniels, and Daniel Naas – set everything up and monitored the area. If that’s not enough, the three of them also served pizza (from Pizza Hut) to the hungry and appreciative crowd at noon and 3:00 p.m. Everyone attending seemed to be having lots of fun. Hopefully this will be an annual event – it certainly made a nice break from studying and school.
