UK’s new Science library was dedicated on October 7, 2009 with Jan Carver, head Science Librarian, acting as master of ceremonies. Jan first introduced Dean Carol Diedrichs who began her remarks by thanking the Provost and the science faculty for their work on the project. She also acknowledged the design and construction crews, the Physical Plant, and the architects. In conclusion, the dean thanked the UK Library staff who participated, with special commendation for Jan Carver, Gail Kennedy, and Toni Greider. As she left the stage, the dean remarked that we would soon be ready for “Phase II.” Provost Kumble Subbaswamy and Math Professor Peter Perry also gave short speeches which emphasized the importance of having a science library. Jan wrapped things up by inviting visitors to have refreshment or take a tour lead by Science library staff.
